“VIP networking events consistently leave me breathlessly anticipating the next few steps of my career. I typically enter the events with a bit of apprehension, wondering if I’ve done enough to prepare. Have a worked hard enough in between this event and the last? This past Saturday, as per usual, I left the event at Ed Bennett’s media studio with renewed motivation, feeling good about myself and my career.
It’s a wonderful feeling to meet influential people in the entertainment industry who are both interested and willing to help someone like me with my budding career. Receiving constructive criticism from Fugi Ruiz, of Wilhelmina, at October’s event, spurred me to re-invent my portfolio for this past event. To receive a “pat on the back” from him on Saturday felt fantastic. To have Stephen DeAngelis continue to buzz about me, dropping helpful tidbits concerning acting coaches and dance studios, was worth all its weight in gold. To have Mark Schoenfeld walk through the doors at the beginning of the day and immediately give me a warm “hello” hug is a moment I will never forget. It reiterated a fact I already knew: that the speakers who attend VIP events do much more than just speak. They take vested interest in the lives they touch and remember the hardworking individuals who come to meet them. “You’re a smart girl,” said Mark. I mean….WOW!
As with every VIP event, Saturday’s event changed my life….again! It helped me continue to cultivate deeper relationships with the experts I have met in the past, and make new and fabulous connections with those I have not. There is never a moment wasted at a VIP event…there’s too much artistic passion in the room to be distracted for even a second. That’s exactly the way it should be, and I am so fortunate to be a part of such an amazing group that makes days like Saturday possible for anyone who is serious about making it in this industry.”
